Ongoing Federal Prison Support
Ongoing support is continued consulting with Sam Mangel after you surrender: scheduled check-ins, help resolving problems inside, assistance communicating with Bureau of Prisons staff, advocacy for the programs you qualify for, and preparation for release. Our relationship doesn't end at the prison gate.
It is for people serving a federal sentence, and for the families who are managing life on the outside, who want an experienced person to call when something goes wrong or a decision needs to be made.
How It Works

1. We talk about your situation
A confidential first call to understand your case, your facility, and where you are in the sentence. Ongoing support can be part of a comprehensive consulting engagement or added on its own.

2. We agree on the level of support
Frequent contact in the first 30 days, then monthly or quarterly consultations based on your needs.

3. We handle issues as they come up
Program denials, transfer questions, conflicts with staff or other inmates, and medical care concerns. Sam helps you decide what to do and how to raise it with the Bureau.

4. We prepare for release together

Support Throughout Your Sentence
Different phases of your sentence require different types of support. We're there for all of them.
First 30 Days
Initial adjustment period support. Frequent check-ins to address questions as you settle into facility life.
Ongoing Incarceration
Regular monthly or quarterly consultations based on your needs. Issue escalation support as needed.
Pre-Release (6 Months)
Intensive preparation for release. Halfway house advocacy, reentry planning, employment preparation.
Supervised Release
Guidance navigating conditions of supervised release and successful transition back to normal life.

Frequent check-ins during your first 30 days, then regular monthly or quarterly consultations based on your needs, with escalation support when something comes up. Contact becomes more intensive again in the six months before release.
Can ongoing support get me into RDAP or an earlier halfway house date?

Can my family be part of it?
Yes. Family liaison support is part of ongoing support, so your family has someone to ask when issues arise during your sentence. Our family support service covers the household side in more depth.
